Alignment and Autonomy provide your foundation for building a successful product.

  • Alignment across the organization on what you are doing and why you are doing it is your starting point, your shared vision on the current state and the desired future state.

  • Autonomy enables teams to determine the best way to achieve the shared vision. When leadership provides clarity on the what and why, teams are free to focus on the how, using their expertise and creativity to solve challenges and deliver results.


People, Process, and Product are the Product Managers fundamental pillars to realize your opportunities.

  • People leadership involves fostering strong partnerships with design and engineering, engaging stakeholders across the organization, passionately communicating the product vision to inspire others, and influencing and motivating the team without relying on authority.

  • Processes guide discovery, streamline execution across engineering and marketing, and empower continuous iteration and optimization. While processes provide structure and efficiency, they must also nurture creativity to drive innovation and deliver truly exceptional products.

  • Product success hinges on deep user, data, industry, and business knowledge, coupled with an intimate understanding of the product itself.

Product Strategy

The leadership team is responsible for defining the "what" and "why" of the product, expressed through a compelling product vision and a two to five-year roadmap. This crucial step often involves a dedicated leadership offsite, bringing together key leaders, including the Head of Product, Design, and Engineering. This collaborative environment fosters open dialogue, shared understanding, and alignment around the product's long-term direction.


Crafting this vision requires a 360-degree view:

  • Market Analysis: Understanding customer problems, industry trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging technologies.

  • Business Alignment: Aligning product goals with overarching business objectives, considering constraints (budget, resources, etc.), and assessing potential organizational impacts.

  • Internal Capabilities: Evaluating internal resources, expertise, and the organization's capacity to execute the vision.


Product strategy is an evolving roadmap, or a staircase that realizes the vision. Each step represents an incremental action, building toward a stronger position. 

  • Incremental Progress: Each step, defined by clear Objectives and Key Results (OKRs), tracks progress towards achieving the overall vision and demonstrates the impact of these actions.

  • Continuous Adaptation: The strategy must be flexible to accommodate market shifts, customer feedback, and unexpected challenges.

  • Focus on Value Creation: The ultimate goal is to create sustained value for customers and the business through continuous iteration and improvement.




Product Discovery

Product Discovery is determining how to serve your customers in ways that work for your business. It's a collaborative and iterative process that aims to uncover valuable insights, validate assumptions, and define the scope of the product.

The goal of Product Discovery is to define a solution that is:

  • Valuable: The customer will find the product useful and willing to pay for it (or choose to use it if it's free).

  • Usable: The product is easy for users to understand, navigate, and interact with.

  • Feasible: The product can be built within the constraints of our engineering team's skills, technology, and available time.

  • Viable: The product aligns with our business goals and is sustainable within the constraints of marketing, sales, finance, service, legal, and compliance.

Key Activities in Product Discovery:

  • User Research: Conduct thorough user research to understand their needs, behaviors, pain points, and motivations. This can include user interviews, surveys, usability testing, observing users in their natural environments, and other relevant methods.

  • Market Analysis: Continuously monitor market trends, analyze competitor products and services to understand their strengths and weaknesses, and identify emerging technologies to uncover opportunities and potential threats.

  • Problem Definition: Clearly define the problem(s) we are trying to solve for users. This involves framing problems from the user's perspective, focusing on their needs, goals, frustrations, and the context in which they encounter these challenges. Ensure that the defined problems are significant, impactful, and address real user needs.

  • Ideation and Concept Development: Generate and explore a variety of potential solutions through brainstorming sessions, workshops, mind mapping, prototyping, and user testing.

  • Assumption Testing: Develop and test key assumptions about user behavior, market demand, and technical feasibility through rapid prototyping, A/B testing, and other validation methods.

  • Prioritization: Prioritize potential solutions based on their potential impact, feasibility, and alignment with the overall product strategy.

Tools and Techniques:

  • Data Analysis: Leverage data from user research, market analysis, and product usage to inform decision-making.

  • Design Sprints: Rapidly prototype and test potential solutions within a short timeframe.

  • Customer Journey Mapping: Visualize the user experience to identify pain points and opportunities for improvement.

  • User Stories: Capture user needs and desired outcomes in a concise and user-centric format.

By effectively conducting product discovery, we ensure that we are building the right product for the right users and that we are addressing their needs in the most effective and efficient way.




Product Delivery

Product Delivery is the phase where we take the validated solution from Product Discovery and turn it into a reality. It's all about efficiently building, testing, deploying, and iteratively improving the product to meet user needs and business goals.


Key Activities in Product Delivery:

  • Agile Development: Break down the product into smaller, user-focused features and build them in short, iterative cycles using methodologies like Scrum or Kanban. This allows for continuous feedback, adaptation, and faster time to market.

  • User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) Design: Focus on creating an intuitive, user-friendly, and aesthetically pleasing interface that caters to the user's needs and expectations.

  • Development: The engineering team builds the product based on the technical specifications and designs created during Product Discovery.

  • Quality Assurance (QA): Rigorously test the product to ensure it functions as intended, is free of bugs, and meets performance benchmarks.

  • Deployment: Release the product to users in a controlled manner, often starting with a limited beta launch to gather further feedback and iterate before a wider rollout.

  • Product Analytics: Continuously monitor product usage data to understand user behavior, identify areas for improvement, and measure the product's success against key metrics.


Success in Product Delivery hinges on:

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Effective communication and collaboration between product managers, designers, engineers, QA testers, and other stakeholders are crucial for seamless execution.

  • Agile Mindset: Adaptability, flexibility, and a willingness to learn and iterate based on user feedback are essential for success in a dynamic environment.

By effectively leveraging all aspects of the 2A3P framework, we can ensure that our product development efforts are aligned, efficient, and ultimately successful in delivering value to our users and the business.
