AI in Product Management: Essential Tools to Elevate Your Impact
The rise of AI has significantly enhanced the product management toolkit. You can either embrace them to elevate your work or become obsolete.
OpenAI is the one you are already familiar with. For product managers, ChatGPT can serve as idea generators, content creators, and even an assistant that can draft product specifications or help visualize customer journeys. If you have not tried it yet, try chain-of-thought prompting. Also, check out ChatPRD (uses the OpenAI API to power its AI-driven capabilities) to make your Product Requirements Document.
Anthropic makes Claude AI which is similar to ChatGPT. Amazon is using Claude AI to power its new version of Alexa, known internally as "Remarkable Alexa," which is expected to be released this month.
Midjourney serves as a creative ally for visual storytelling. Okay, full disclosure, I typically use Midjourney to create pictures for my fiction writing. But, I also use it to create images for presentations. Of course, there are many products out there to build presentations for you such as Prezi; however, I prefer to create my own slides with imagery from Midjourney. One of the funnest images was the one I created for my blog post on the Nike Digital global expansion here.
Perplexity plays a role in simplifying research. Product Managers, and well really everybody, use Google to perform research. Next time you want to search for something on Google, try Perplexity and let me know what you think. It isn’t for everything, but it is good for many things. Here is a good overview video.
These tools help Product Managers move faster, make informed decisions, and focus on strategic, human-centric work. Let me know your favorite tools or tips on how to maximize AI performance.
